Exfoliate




What is exfoliating? Do you exfoliate? How often? Our skin sheds dead skin cell about every 30 days.  If they don’t shed it can cause the skin to become dry and flaky.  It also clogged pores leading to breakouts, which makes for very unhappy skin.  Exfoliating is all about removing dead skin cells from face and body to reveal smoother and glowing. It’s also been known to increase collagen in the long run. 

There are several options available to exfoliate such as scrubs (DIY or store bought), mitts, dry brushing, chemical peel, dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, etc. 
Depending on you skin type normal, oily, combination, dry or sensitive the frequency and the method of exfoliating can differ.  I have combination skin so I exfoliate 1-2 times a week. 

I get regular facials (although COVID has set me back a bit in the last year) and till date do get chemical peels a few times a year. There are many different kinds of peels such as  glycolic, lactic, salicylic, TCA, etc. Please consult with a licensed esthetician so they can evaluate your skin ans kind of peels that are suitable. 

There are also products available from many brands for at home exfoliation.  Which ever type of exfoliating method youchoose depends on your preference, skin needs and how much time and money you want to spend (do what you think works best for you ... no judgement 😊). Over the next few post I will bring to you some of my favs.
