Brushes 101

Flat, rounded, powder, blush or angled...ughhhh so many types of brushes out there , which ones should you get?

Here is a guide that might help. 

1. Large Powder Brush

2. Small Powder or Blush Brush 

3. Flat Foundation Brush- even though I use Beauty Blender or a makeup sponge this brush is good to keep in your collection.  It can be used for foundation application or cream contour application (prior to blending) 

4. Buff or Stippling Brush - it helps buff foundation for a glowing finish 

5. Flat Concealer Brush for applying concealer

6. Concealer Blending Brush (optional as you can use a sponge to blend as well. 

7. Rounded Shadow Brush- (for soft eyeshadow application and blending)

8. Flat shadow brush (packs on eyeshadow on the eyelid & reduces fallout. PS pat it on the eyelid do not use in sweeping motion) 

9. Liner Brush- (to apply Gel or Liquid eyeliner) 

10. Smudge Brush- to smudge liner or shadow for a smokey eye look 

11. Angled Brow Brush- is a multipurpose brush it can be used to fill in the brows and also apply gel liner.

Which brands brushes are good? 

Many companies make brushes so it’s had to pinpoint just one.  My drugstore preferences are Real Techniques and EcoTools.  I also love the brush sets i bought at Sams Club during the holiday season. If you prefer a little higher end Sephora Pro Collection and MAC Cosmetics has a good selection. 

Now there are more brushes that you can add to your collection but these are a good place to start.  Also, If you take care of your brushes properly they should last you a while.
